AI could drive sharp rise in cyberattacks, Keystrike chief warns

Óskarsson, who has worked in the technology sector for more than 25 years, said he was particularly concerned about the future development of cyberattacks and artificial intelligence.

He said the frequency of attacks could increase significantly because artificial intelligence can work much faster than the human brain. However, he said companies should not ban employees from using the technology. Instead, they should establish clear rules and educate staff about proper use of artificial intelligence and the handling of personal data.

Cybercrime industry worth more than 10 trillion dollars

According to Óskarsson, the cybercrime industry is currently valued at more than 10 trillion dollars and is growing by 15% a year. If it were a country, he said, it would be the world’s third-largest economy.
