Nánd has launched a volunteer pilot project in Eystur Municipality to reduce the care burden on staff and improve daily life for residents, KVF reports.

The volunteers will not carry out care duties, but will help with practical tasks, said Poula Reinert-Petersen, head of Nánd.

More elderly people have complex needs and are in poorer health, meaning care takes up more of staff’s time. This can make it difficult to find time for practical tasks, where volunteers could provide useful assistance, she said.
