Pori Energia raises electricity network fees again by 7.4%

Pori Energia Sähköverkot, the company’s electricity network operator, will raise its network service fees by an average of 7.4 percent from October, Yle reported. The company said the increase is driven by higher costs.

For a detached house using 16,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity a year, the increase will add just under eight euros to the monthly bill, according to Pori Energia.

The company attributed the rise to significantly higher electricity network construction costs, transmission charges from national grid company Fingrid and financing costs.

Pori Energia last raised its network fees a year ago.

“The energy transition, including the growing use of electric cars and heat pumps, is placing continuously increasing demands on the network,” Pertti Menonen, chief executive of Pori Energia Sähköverkot, said in a company release.

Pori Energia Sähköverkot is part of the Pori Energia group. The City of Pori sold just under half of Pori Energia last year to Swedish company Polhem Infra.
