Fáskrúðsfjörður, Iceland, traffic accident

Two people were taken to hospital after a car carrying four people overturned near Eyri in southern Fáskrúðsfjörður on Sunday, mbl.is reported.

Fjarðabyggð Fire and Rescue Service said the vehicle rolled at least twice. Because the location and number of injured people were initially unclear, two ambulances from separate stations and an on-call commander were sent to the scene. A response vehicle was also dispatched but later recalled when it became clear it was not needed.

Suðurfjarðavegur was closed briefly to ensure safety while emergency crews worked at the scene.

Two people were taken to the hospital in Neskaupstaður for medical attention. The other passengers escaped without significant injuries and went to a doctor for examination.

This was the second callout for a traffic accident involving Fjarðabyggð Fire and Rescue Service on Suðurfjarðavegur in the past two weeks.
