No side wins 62.9% in Northwest constituency

The no side won 62.9% of the vote in Iceland’s Northwest constituency, according to final figures reported by mbl.is.

A total of 19,155 votes were counted after Saturday’s ballot. The results were:

Yes: 7,060
No: 11,953
Blank: 74
Invalid: 68

The result means that 62.9% of voters in the constituency do not want Iceland to enter talks with the European Union, while 37.1% support doing so.

The result also increased the no side’s nationwide lead from 50.9% to 51.8%.
