Rain front crosses Finland on summer’s final Sunday

Sunday 30th August 2026 on 05:30 in Finland

Finland, rain, weather

Rain will affect many parts of Finland on the final Sunday of summer, Yle reports. A band of rain will stretch from western Lapland eastwards. Showers are expected west of the band, while a strip to its east will remain drier.

The highest daily rainfall totals are expected in western areas, at around 15 millimetres. That is not considered particularly high. Cloud cover may break in places, with temperatures ranging from 15 to 20 degrees Celsius.

Scattered rain will continue across many parts of southern and western Finland on Monday. Thunderstorms are also possible in the south. Lapland will see showers as well, but they will be more localised.

On Tuesday, the rain area in Lapland will become more continuous. Further south, rain and thunderstorms are expected, although dry and sunny spells will occur between the showers.
