Person found dead after Vaasa apartment fire

One person was found dead after a fire at an apartment building on Kapteeninkatu in Vaasa’s Palosaari district early Saturday, Yle reports.

Emergency services were alerted shortly after 5 a.m. Police evacuated the building’s other residents, who were not injured according to the information currently available.

The person was found in the apartment where the fire started. Police are investigating the cause of the fire and the sequence of events.

Nine emergency service units were dispatched to the scene. Around 9.30 a.m., one police car and one fire engine remained there.
