Akureyrarvaka draws crowds with events across Akureyri

Akureyravaka, a festival in Akureyri, opened in the town’s Lystigarður park on Friday evening, drawing residents and visitors to a varied programme, mbl.is reports.

Events were held across the town. The Industrial Museum in Krókeyri hosted a Lego exhibition, while Akureyri Swimming Pool held a foam disco featuring a DJ and a rapper. Rapper Saint Pete also spent time with young attendees.

Mayor Berglind Ósk Guðmundsdóttir officially opened the festival in Lystigarður. The programme included a performance by Páll from Húsafell on the stone harp and dancers from the Steps dance studio.

The film Eyríkið: Life in Grímsey was also screened. Producer Dögg Mósesdóttir and director Nikolai Galitzine were among those attending.

More events are scheduled throughout the weekend, with activities intended to offer something for a wide range of interests.
