Allan Sigurðsson and Hannes Þór Arason will direct RÚV’s New Year’s comedy show for the second consecutive year, mbl.is reported, citing a statement from RÚV.

The show received a strong response last year, with 90% of respondents saying they were satisfied in a survey by Maskína. According to RÚV, that was the highest satisfaction rate recorded since the polling company began surveying public views of the show in 2011.

Sigurðsson and Arason have assembled a five-member writing team consisting of Kristín Þóra Haraldsdóttir, Mikael Kaaber, Ólafur Ásgeirsson, Snjólaug Lúðvíksdóttir and Sverrir Þór Sverrisson.

“We have a fantastic group of writers. We have worked extensively with all of them in recent years, and what we find particularly exciting is how different their senses of humour are. We can therefore hopefully expect a varied and entertaining show,” Sigurðsson said in the statement.

Atlavík, the production company run by Sigurðsson, Arason, Hannes Þór Halldórsson and Ingimar Guðbjartsson, will produce the show again. In recent years, the company has produced television programmes including IceGuys, Bannað að hlæja, Alheimsdraumurinn and Góða Íslendinga.

“The entire process last year, from the first writing sessions to the tense premiere and the excellent response, made the project one of the most enjoyable things we have taken on. When we were offered the chance to make the show again, it was easy to say yes,” Arason said.
