Vørn will take responsibility for all emergency preparedness in the Faroe Islands, KVF reports.

The administration of the Emergency Preparedness Act and the staff responsible for it will be transferred from the Labour and Fire Authority to Vørn.

The government says the aim is to bring the emergency preparedness sector together within Vørn and strengthen its coordination and development.

As part of the restructuring, occupational health and safety will become the main area of work for the Labour Inspection, which will replace the Labour and Fire Authority.

Leivur Persson, who has served as director of the Labour and Fire Authority, will move to Vørn as head of the emergency preparedness department. Tummas Pauli Juul, a department head, has taken over temporarily as director of the Labour Inspection.

The changes will take effect on September 1.
