Finnish technology company Bittium has begun change negotiations at its subsidiary Bittium Engineering Services, broadcaster Yle reported. The talks are part of measures to improve profitability and develop operations.

The negotiations cover all 120 employees at the company. If the planned measures go ahead, up to 30 employees could be dismissed or furloughed.

Bittium said the talks were launched for financial and production-related reasons, as well as because of planned operational restructuring.

“With the change negotiations, we aim to clearly reduce our cost structure and improve profitability. We are seeking growth in the defence industry and the embedded artificial intelligence market. Developing our operations and organisation is key to advancing our strategy,” Bittium Chief Executive Petri Toljamo said in a company statement.

The measures are intended to generate cost savings of approximately 2 million euros.
