Police complete investigation into Tuusula moped gathering

Helsinki police have completed their preliminary investigation into a moped rider involved in a youth moped gathering in Tuusula, Yle reports.

The 15-year-old rider is suspected of aggravated endangerment of traffic safety, driving a vehicle without the right to do so and a vehicle offence.

Police pursued the rider during the gathering on August 8. On Palkkitie in Tuusula that evening, police forced the moped into a ditch and into a fence. The rider fractured a foot and five bones in one hand.

The case concerning the rider has been forwarded to a prosecutor for consideration of charges.

The actions of the East Uusimaa police officers involved in the attempted stop are being investigated separately. The National Prosecution Authority’s police crime unit is conducting that preliminary investigation. A police officer is suspected of aggravated causing of injury, aggravated endangerment of traffic safety and breach of official duty.
