Metsä Fibre will temporarily lay off staff at its Kemi pulp mill during the latter part of the year, Yle reports. The decision followed the completion of change negotiations.

The negotiations covered the entire workforce of about 225 people. The company said the number of employees affected, as well as the timing and allocation of the layoffs, will be specified later this year. The layoffs will last for a maximum of 90 days.

The layoffs are due to a lengthy production stoppage. The mill’s cooking plant will be renovated, requiring an investment shutdown in October and November. The related production stoppage will last six weeks.

Metsä Fibre will also carry out the mill’s annual maintenance shutdown during the same period.
