Finnish defence chief to answer questions on worsening security climate
Finland faces growing security challenges, with Russia threatening the country’s leadership and tensions rising in the Baltic Sea and Arctic regions, Yle reports.
Defence spending is also increasing because of the changing security environment and Finland’s NATO membership, putting further pressure on funds needed to run the rest of society.
Janne Jaakkola, commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, will appear on Yle’s TV1 Ykkösaamu programme to discuss how he views these changes and how Finland should adapt to a more uncertain world.
The programme will be broadcast live on TV1 and Yle Areena on Saturday at 10.05. Seija Vaaherkumpu will conduct the interview.
Viewers can submit questions for Jaakkola through a form on Yle’s website.
