Falling real home prices have created buying opportunities for Ívera, the country’s largest privately operated rental company, according to mbl.is.

Ívera chief executive Egill Lúðvíksson said the company primarily buys entire buildings and, in some cases, plots of land. Its involvement in such projects can take various forms, he said.

“During the period of low interest rates following Covid, the situation was the opposite. Home prices rose sharply, and contractors and developers had little interest in making concessions to sell projects in their entirety and thereby reduce their risk,” Lúðvíksson said.

He is interviewed about the rental market in Morgunblaðið’s Thursday edition.
