Norwegian king’s condition worsens, described as very serious

Norway’s King Harald’s health has deteriorated and is now described as “very serious”, according to the Norwegian royal court, SVT reports.

Crown Prince Regent Haakon and Queen Sonja have cancelled all scheduled engagements for the day, the court said in a statement.

According to Norwegian public broadcaster NRK, the queen and the crown prince couple have arrived at Rikshospitalet, a hospital in Oslo, where King Harald is being treated.

The 89-year-old king has been hospitalised with blood poisoning since August 17.
