Charges filed against former members of Cannonball motorcycle gang in North Karelia
Members of the now-defunct motorcycle gang Cannonball are facing charges for engaging in illegal association activities. According to prosecutor Reijo Rapo, the charges pertain to an entire local chapter of the gang. Rapo indicated that the criminal charge could be related to the use of the group’s insignia or vests, but in this case, it concerns the “actual continuation of activities.”
It is suspected that the motorcycle gang’s operations have persisted in North Karelia. The National Bureau of Investigation disclosed last year that these suspicions emerged in connection with crimes being investigated in the Joensuu area.
Additionally, charges have been filed for alcohol-related offenses and tax fraud. The prosecutor stated that these activities involved restaurant-like operations conducted within club premises, where alcohol was unlawfully sold.
Cannonball MC was disbanded by the Päijät-Häme District Court in June 2022. This dissolution has been upheld, as the Supreme Court did not grant permission for an appeal in the case.
