Europe experienced five heatwaves this summer, with temperatures exceeding 40C in several countries, KVF reported on Tuesday.

The heatwaves caused drought and wildfires, while statistical and health agencies estimate that more people died from the extreme heat than usual.

The Breddin programme is examining what defines a heatwave, the consequences of this summer’s record temperatures and how European countries can prepare for a new reality.

The programme will be broadcast at 10am.
