Women drove sharp rise in Finland’s unemployment in July

Unemployment rose in July compared with a year earlier, according to Statistics Finland’s latest Labour Force Survey, Yle reported. There were 20,000 more unemployed people than in July 2025.

The number of unemployed women increased by 24,000, while the number of unemployed men fell by 4,000.

The trend figure for the unemployment rate among people aged 15 to 74 was 10.5 percent in July. The figure has been adjusted for seasonal and random variation.

There were 289,000 unemployed people in total.
