Renovations to the changing rooms at Reykjavik Swimming Pool have proved more extensive than expected, and the facility will temporarily change its weekday opening hours, mbl.is reports.

Men have been using the old changing room on the lower floor, while women have been using both outdoor changing rooms during the work. Together, the changing rooms can accommodate about 60 guests, so the pool’s capacity will be limited to that number while these arrangements remain in place.

As school swimming resumes on Tuesday, the temporary opening hours will be as follows until work on the women’s changing room is completed:

Mondays: 6.30am to 10am and 2pm to 10pm.

Tuesdays: 6.30am to 8.30am and 2pm to 10pm.

Wednesdays: 6.30am to 10pm, unchanged.

Thursdays: 6.30am to 8.30am and 3pm to 10pm.

Fridays: 6.30am to 10am and 3pm to 10pm.

The announcement says efforts are focused on completing the changing-room work as soon as possible and returning the pool to normal operations. The women’s changing room is expected to reopen in the autumn.

Annual passes and other subscriptions remain valid at all swimming pools in Reykjavik.
