Tractor driver dies after swerving to avoid combine harvester

A 67-year-old tractor driver died in a road accident on Suvisrannantie in Liperi, Yle reported, citing the Eastern Finland Police Department.

The man swerved left to avoid an oncoming combine harvester at a bend in the road. The tractor left the road on the right side in its direction of travel, and the driver fell from the vehicle.

Several emergency response units were dispatched to the scene. The man was resuscitated but died at the scene despite the efforts.

Police are investigating the incident as endangering traffic safety. The charges may be revised as the investigation proceeds.

The Road Accident Investigation Board is also investigating the crash.
