Disqualified judge forces retrial in Faroe Islands criminal case

A criminal case in the District Court of the Faroe Islands must be heard again after one of the court members was ruled disqualified, KVF reports.

A man is charged with having sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 15. The court heard the case on Thursday and Friday morning.

After the hearing ended, the judge announced that the proceedings could not be used because another court member had previously taken part in a case involving the same girl.

The defendant denies the charge. The prosecution is seeking a new hearing, but no date has been set.
