The Environmental Agency has extended SEV’s permits for pilot tidal energy projects in Vestmannasund until February 28, 2030, broadcaster KVF reports.
The agency approved an environmental impact assessment on March 31, 2020, for a pilot project involving two floating tidal energy installations in Vestmannasund.
On September 12, 2023, it also approved an environmental impact assessment for a pilot project involving a larger tidal energy installation.
The Environmental Agency’s decision can be appealed to the minister responsible for environmental matters and the Faroese Appeals Board. The appeal deadline is four weeks from the decision’s publication, which took place yesterday.
Only people for whom the decision has a specific, direct and personal significance have the right to appeal.
