A magnitude 1.3 earthquake near Ingólfsfjall was felt in Selfoss, mbl.is reports. The earthquake was recorded shortly before the report was published.
Several people contacted the Icelandic Met Office about the tremor, according to the natural hazards expert on duty.
The expert said the number of reports was explained by the earthquake’s proximity to the built-up area rather than by its strength. The epicentre was about 2.5 kilometres from Selfoss.
