Finnish court sentences man to 12 and a half years for serious sex crimes

Yle reports that the Southwest Finland District Court has sentenced a 38 year old man to 12 and a half years in prison for crimes committed between 2022 and 2026.

The convictions include six aggravated rapes of a child, nine aggravated sexual assaults of a child, six basic sexual assaults of a child, two counts of offering compensation for a sexual act involving a young person and two counts of sexual abuse of a child.

The man was also convicted of a firearms offence and a firearms violation. He was ordered to remain in custody and to pay nearly 70,000 euros in compensation to two victims.

Two phones seized from the defendant, along with the firearms connected to the firearms offences, were ordered to be forfeited to the state.

The judgment is not legally final.
