Ólafur Ragnar to discuss EU referendum campaign in live broadcast

Former Icelandic president Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson will appear on mbl.is’s Spursmál programme at 2 p.m. on Friday to discuss the campaign ahead of Iceland’s referendum on European Union membership on August 29.

He will be interviewed by Stefán Einar Stefánsson. Grímsson has openly opposed EU membership and criticised the possibility of Iceland joining the bloc.

He has said that exploring membership would be premature and that Iceland, like Norway and Switzerland, would be better off outside the EU and without adopting the euro.
