Man dies after violent attack in Joensuu apartment

Yle reports that a man from Joensuu died after a violent incident in a private apartment in the Rantakylä district.

Police were called to the apartment on Wednesday afternoon after a 60 year old man had been assaulted. Police and emergency medical personnel tried to resuscitate him, but he died on the way to hospital.

Police arrested a man and a woman who were at the apartment. On Friday, the North Karelia District Court remanded the 38 year old man in custody on probable cause of manslaughter.

Police have not commented on how the violence was carried out because the investigation is still ongoing.
