TAKS is set to receive more customs officers, with the government planning to include the funding in the budget to be presented this autumn, Kringvarp Føroya reports.

Finance Minister Aksel V. Johannesen said the plan follows the coalition’s decision to strengthen drug checks at the borders.

Birta Biskopstø, head of a department at TAKS, called for more customs officers in Tuesday’s news coverage to reinforce drug controls. The request has received political backing.
