Charges filed over Mäntsälä construction panel accident

Charges have been filed over an accident in Mäntsälä in which a six-year-old boy died and a five-year-old boy was seriously injured, Yle reports.

The boys were playing in the younger child’s yard when construction panels in a transport cart fell on them in October 2024.

One person has been charged with aggravated causing of death by negligence and aggravated causing of bodily injury by negligence.

The accused has denied committing the offences, according to District Prosecutor Sini Pöyry.

Aggravated causing of death by negligence carries a sentence of at least four years in prison. Aggravated causing of bodily injury by negligence can result in a fine.

The case will be heard at the Eastern Uusimaa District Court from mid-September.
