The television series The Danish Woman has received a 225 million Icelandic króna production rebate, mbl.is reported. The payment comes as producers have not yet settled all wages owed to people who worked on the production.
Production rebates for films and television projects made in Iceland have totalled nearly 3.8 billion krónur so far this year, compared with 6.6 billion krónur last year.
Morgunblaðið reported earlier this year that the producers of The Danish Woman had been unable to pay everyone involved. The rebate application was then on hold at the Icelandic Film Centre, but the matter has since been resolved. According to information obtained by the newspaper, not all wages have been paid. The Icelandic producer has paid part of the outstanding wages, while payments from the French producers are still pending.
Other large rebates in recent months include 116 million krónur for the film Oasis, 143 million for the television series Ormhildi the Brave 2 and 207 million for Elma, a television series produced by Glassriver that is scheduled to air on Sjónvarp Símans.
The largest rebate this year is for the film The Odyssey, at 870 million krónur.
Several projects from last year have also received additional payments. The series Vigdís received a further 20 million krónur, bringing its total rebate to 206 million. The series Hildur, based on books by Satu Rämö, has received rebates four times, totalling 330 million krónur.
The producers of RÚV’s New Year’s comedy show also received an additional 775,000 krónur, on top of the 19 million they had previously applied for.
