Firefighters tackle blaze at Hafnarfjordur industrial area

A sizeable fire broke out at an industrial area on Stálhella in the Vellir district of Hafnarfjordur on Wednesday night, mbl.is reported.

The fire spread to car wrecks, containers and other discarded materials, according to Guðjón Sigmundsson of the capital area fire service.

One fire engine was at the scene, and firefighters expected to bring the blaze under control shortly. Sigmundsson said the fire was already burning strongly when crews arrived, but no nearby buildings were at risk.
