Police seize hundreds of cannabis plants in Króksfjarðarnes

Westfjords police arrested a foreign man in Króksfjarðarnes last week after discovering extensive cannabis cultivation in a building there, mbl.is reports.

Police seized several hundred cannabis plants and extensive cultivation equipment.

Hlynur Hafberg Snorrason, chief superintendent with Westfjords police, said the scale of the operation indicated that the cannabis was being produced rather than grown for personal use.

Police also strongly suspect that the man had accomplices. That possibility is under investigation, Hlynur told mbl.is.

The man was subsequently remanded in custody for one week.
