China has banned imports of pigs, wild boars and related products from Finland because of African swine fever, Yle reports, citing Reuters and China’s customs authority.
Finland’s Food Authority found African swine fever in wild boars in Virolahti, in the Kymenlaakso region, on July 30.
The disease is life threatening to members of the pig family. There is no vaccine or treatment, and infected pigs die quickly.
Thousands of people are currently living under strict restrictions in southeastern Finland.
