Faroe Islands surpass 20,000 households

The Faroe Islands now have more than 20,000 households, according to Kringvarp Føroya. Nearly one in four households consists of a single person.

There were 20,064 households on 1 July, 187 more than on 1 January. Single-person households accounted for 28 per cent of the total, or 5,579 households. That figure has increased by 39 per cent since 2014.

The Statistics Faroe Islands also reported that the population grew by 603 people during the first half of the year.

Two-thirds of households in the Faroe Islands have no children. Tórshavn Municipality has 8,492 households.
