Person dies after police use stun device in Espoo
A person died after police used a stun device in Espoo, Yle reports.
Western Uusimaa Police said the device was used during a police assignment on the night of Friday, August 14.
According to police, the adult was behaving aggressively and violently towards people at the scene. The violent behaviour continued after a police patrol arrived, the department said in a statement.
Police used the stun device on the person, who was injured during the incident. Emergency medical services took the person to hospital for further treatment, but the person later died.
A prosecutor will assess the police actions. The Police Crimes Unit at the Office of the Prosecutor General will determine whether a preliminary investigation into the police conduct should be launched.
