Kringvarp Føroya reports that 55,505 people lived in the Faroe Islands on 1 July, an increase of 643, or 1.2 per cent, from the same date last year.
Hagstovan said population growth had picked up again after little growth for just over two years. The increase was more than twice as large as in the previous 12-month period, from 2024 to 2025.
Net migration, the difference between immigration and emigration, was the main factor behind the increase. The natural increase was also slightly larger, mainly because more children were born.
