Helsinki Festival opens with Rufus Wainwright’s Dream Requiem

Helsinki Festival begins today and will continue until September 5, Yle reports.
The festival opens at the Helsinki Music Centre with Rufus Wainwright’s Dream Requiem, performed by the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor Dalia Stasevska and soloists.
The programme also includes theatre and dance. The Huvila festival venue will host performances by Katie Melua, Maija Vilkkumaa and Anssi Kela, among others.
The annual Night of the Arts will feature a procession of giant animals this year.
