The Trade Union of Education in Finland OAJ has issued a new strike warning covering six universities of applied sciences, Yle reported.

The three day strike would begin on September 1 if the parties do not reach an agreement before then. The warning concerns a labour dispute over the collective agreement for universities of applied sciences.

The previous agreement expired in March, and the parties have not reached a new deal. The national conciliator has made two settlement proposals. The employers’ side, Sivista, rejected the first, while OAJ rejected the second.

OAJ said proposals made by the employers’ side in the dispute would have weakened teachers’ salaries and pay development. Sivista said OAJ was trying to make it more difficult for students to begin their studies.
