Ofar has appointed Þorvaldur Einarsson as its managing director, mbl.is reported Monday. Ofar is part of the Nova club.

Einarsson joins Ofar from Lyfja, where he has been director of technology and development since 2022, with responsibility including information technology and the development of digital services.

He previously worked as director of business development at App Dynamic and held leadership roles at the predecessors of Ofar, Origo and Nýherji. Einarsson holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland.

“It is very exciting to have the opportunity to take part in Ofar’s next chapter. The company has a strong position in the business market, extensive expertise and trusted business relationships built up over a long period,” Einarsson said in a company announcement.

He said he looked forward to working with Ofar’s employees, customers and partners, and saw opportunities to better connect equipment, services and digital solutions so users could more easily use technology to achieve results.

Sylvía Kristín Ólafsdóttir, chief executive of the Nova club, said Einarsson brought valuable experience in technology, business development and organisational change.

“It is great to have Þorvaldur join us, as there are exciting opportunities ahead to build on what the company does well today, develop its services and solutions, and make better use of the strength that comes from being part of the Nova club,” she said.
