Temperatures are expected to reach 19 to 20 degrees in northern Iceland on Monday, mbl.is reports, citing a forecast discussion from the Icelandic Met Office. A low-pressure system is approaching from the southwest, but its fronts are not expected to reach inland areas, meaning little precipitation is forecast, mainly in the southeast.
The system will bring stronger winds than during the calm weekend. Easterly winds of 5 to 10 metres per second are expected in many areas later in the day, increasing to 10 to 15 metres per second in the south.
The low-pressure system will gradually move away on Tuesday, and winds will ease again. Winds may remain somewhat stronger along the southeast coast. Light precipitation is possible in the Eastfjords and southeastern Iceland, while most other parts of the country should be mostly bright.
Daytime temperatures are expected to range from 13 to 18 degrees, with cooler conditions along the east coast.
Wednesday and Thursday are forecast to bring calm, mostly dry and mild weather. However, low-pressure systems are expected to be near Iceland next weekend, bringing stronger winds and rain. The weather is therefore not expected to be as favourable as it was this past weekend.
