Finland, rainfall, weather

More than 100 millimetres of rain fell in Seinäjoki overnight, while rain and showers are expected across much of Finland on Monday, Yle reported. Yle meteorologist Henriikka Heikinoja said the heaviest rainfall was recorded in Seinäjoki, followed by just under 60 millimetres in Ranua.

Sunday’s rain and thunderstorms continued through the night in parts of the country.

A low-pressure system will remain over Finland on Monday afternoon. Rain and showers are expected across large areas, with thunderstorms also possible in some places. Drier conditions will prevail in the southwest and eastern Lapland.

Temperatures will range from just below 20 degrees Celsius to slightly above 20 degrees. Rain will ease somewhat towards the evening, while showers in Lapland will move west. Skies will also clear partly in southern Finland during the evening, Heikinoja said.

On Tuesday, the low-pressure system will remain over Finland but gradually weaken. Showery rain will mainly affect central parts of the country and parts of Lapland. Isolated showers will also be possible farther south, although conditions will generally be drier there. Temperatures will reach around 20 degrees in the south and remain close to 15 degrees in the north.
