Gamli Jupiter gets permit to trial fish for red copepods

Kringvarp Føroya reports that P/F Jupiter in Kollafjørður, which owns the vessel Gamli Jupiter, is one of three companies granted permission to trial fishing for red copepods in the Bankarennan fishing area.

The company initially plans to trawl for the copepods using Gamli Jupiter. It may also test fixed gear on the seabed, in which case no vessel would be needed other than one used to pump the catch aboard.

Shipowner Jógvan Martin Ferjá Joensen says the company’s investment in the red copepod project will amount to at least a sum in the tens of millions.
