Coast Guard helicopter rescues injured hiker near Glymur
A Coast Guard helicopter was called out shortly before 4 p.m. on Sunday after a hiker was injured near Glymur waterfall at the innermost part of Hvalfjörður, mbl.is reports.
Ásgeir Erlendsson, a spokesperson for the Icelandic Coast Guard, confirmed the incident.
The hiker’s injuries were not serious, but reaching him proved difficult. Assistance from the helicopter was requested because carrying him down would have been challenging.
The helicopter landed at Reykjavík Airport at around 5:30 p.m. The man was then taken by ambulance to Landspítali hospital.
