Bylgjan, Páll Magnússon, Sprengisand

Former MP and broadcasting director Páll Magnússon will take over as host of Sprengisand on radio station Bylgjan, mbl.is reports. He will present the programme for the first time on August 30.

His predecessor, Kristján Kristjánsson, is leaving after nearly a decade as host.

“Kristján has done an excellent job for Bylgjan and made Sprengisand an important platform for discussion of national affairs. We thank him sincerely for his contribution, professionalism and cooperation over the past years,” Sýn broadcasting director Stefán Valmundarson said.

“We are extremely excited to have Páll back with Bylgjan. He has unique experience and knows both the media and politics from the inside. I am convinced that he will leave his mark on Sprengisand and continue to build the country’s strongest programme on politics and national affairs,” Valmundarson said.

Magnússon said he was looking forward to taking over the programme.

“In many respects, the programme is the best platform in Iceland’s media landscape for going in depth into the day’s political and social issues, and is therefore extremely important. I will do my best to ensure that remains the case,” he said.

Kolbeinn Tumi Daðason, editor of Sýn’s newsroom, will host the programme on August 23.
