Police end investigation into Rotenberg family’s spa sale

Yle reports that a preliminary investigation into Roman Rotenberg’s role in the sale of Långvik spa in Kirkkonummi has been closed.

An investigation into his father, Boris Rotenberg, was also closed. The two men had been suspected of aggravated regulatory offences.

In 2014, Boris Rotenberg and his brother Arkadi sold the Långvik company to Roman for one euro. About a month later, Arkadi Rotenberg was placed under sanctions. Boris Rotenberg was later sanctioned because of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

The Enforcement Authority and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs concluded that the brothers continued to exercise control over the company after the sale.

Police proposed ending the investigation because of insufficient evidence. The prosecutor issued decisions limiting the preliminary investigations in May last year.
