Lapland, sodankylä, traffic accidents

Five boys aged 15 to 17 were injured in a serious traffic accident in Sodankylä on Friday evening, Yle reports. Two of them, including the suspected driver, were seriously injured.

The passenger car rolled over its roof on Kurkiaskantie road. Police suspect that the driver was a 17-year-old who holds the licence required to drive a passenger car.

Police suspect the driver of aggravated endangerment of traffic safety and aggravated negligent bodily injury. Investigators are also examining whether intoxicants played a role, although this is not currently suspected, according to Iikka Rantahalvari, a detective chief inspector with the Lapland Police Department.

Police said they would not provide further information at this stage.
