Stubb finds Kekkonen-era liquor stash at presidential summer residence

President Alexander Stubb has found a basket of liquor dating from the era of former President Urho Kekkonen in the potato cellar at Kultaranta, the presidential summer residence, Yle reports.

Stubb said on Instagram that he and his wife, Suzanne Innes-Stubb, discovered the basket while touring Kultaranta’s recently restored grounds.

The basket contained “refreshments” from the late 1950s, including lingonberry lemonade, Tähkä liquor, Koskenkorva, vermouth, aquavit and pastis.

“Quite a time capsule of a treasure basket,” Stubb wrote. “We put them on display, not to drink.”

Ilta-Sanomat was the first to report the discovery.
