Search efforts have been ongoing throughout the night for two tourists in the Kerlingarfjöll region of Iceland. The tourists requested assistance after getting trapped in a cave, but rescuers have yet to establish contact with them or locate any of their equipment.
A rescue team leader reported that over 200 rescue workers have been searching for the duo since last night. The location of the tourists was determined based on the information they provided before becoming trapped. Rescue teams are currently working to gather more information about the tourists and the phone number they used to call for help.
Efforts have been intensive throughout the night, and teams are rotating to ensure they can rest while maintaining the search. There have been no indications that the call for help was a hoax, and search teams will continue their operations resolutely.
Additionally, local authorities are using drones to assist with the challenging terrain, which includes gorges, caves, and difficult navigation areas. A Coast Guard helicopter is also stationed nearby and ready to assist if needed. The use of drones has proven instrumental in navigating the rugged landscape as search efforts continue in the hopes of locating the missing tourists.
