Ship encounters iceberg near Hornstrandir

A ship travelling northeast of Hornstrandir encountered an iceberg on Thursday, mbl.is reports. A report was sent to the Icelandic Met Office.

The office was also notified on Wednesday about two icebergs farther east.

The Icelandic Met Office said many pieces of ice were scattered around the icebergs and that thick fog covered the area. Visibility was nevertheless good on radar.

A photograph of the iceberg was taken from the ship, and the Icelandic Met Office published a map showing its location.
