Iceland records decline in foreign citizens

According to mbl.is, 83,719 foreign citizens were registered as residents of Iceland on August 1, a decrease of 220 people, or 0.3 percent, from December 1, 2025.

The largest increase was among Ukrainian citizens, whose number rose by 241 during the period. Spanish citizens recorded the next-largest increase, followed by Nigerian citizens.

Over the same period, the number of Icelandic citizens increased by 2,218, or 0.7 percent.
